Why another blog? I am glad you ask. I have four reasons. I could share more, but I think four serves as a good introduction.
1. Pastors live in an age where blogging is a new and effective medium of communication. We live in a new generation, one fraught with information. Everywhere we go, we are bombarded with ideas. Most, if not all, of these ideas are driven by a certain perspective on the world or worldview that purports to confront God’s Word. Therefore, pastors everywhere should take advantage of the ability to regularly interact with the world from a Christian worldview to assist Christians in thinking through a host of issues in light of God’s word.
2. Blogging can be an encouragement to the local church as well as other local churches. As an associate pastor at First Baptist Church Clewiston, FL, I feel that it is an excellent opportunity to encourage dialogue in our local congregation. I have seen a number of pastors serve congregations in this same way including, but not limited to, C.J. Mahanney, John Piper, and the pastors of Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. Perhaps, at times, this blog may prove to be of some assistance to other local churches.
3. Hopefully, this blog will also provide a window into my soul. This may be both positive and negative at times. Scripture and my own experience clearly display the devastating fact that I along with all of humanity have sinned against God. Though the Spirit is always renewing me and conforming me into the image of God, I still battle sin in my life. Therefore, my perspective will not always be perfect. However, I am also a blood covered, redeemed, justified, spirit-filled Christian. Christ has poured his Spirit out upon me. Hopefully, the musings of this blog will reflect the majesty of Christ and prove to be redemptive in the lives of those who read it.
4. I have friends and family all over the world who would like to know what I am doing.
So, welcome to the world according to Joshua. I hope it is always interesting and sometimes even helpful.
